David Shasha Advisory Board Member
David Shasha has been a practicing lawyer since beginning his career in the City of London in February 1978, when he joined international law firm Coward Chance (now Clifford Chance).He qualified as a solicitor in 1980, and became a partner at Clifford Chance in 1987. Between 1991 and 1995, he was responsible for the development of Clifford Chance’s operations in Central and Eastern Europe, including the opening of the firm’s offices in Warsaw (1992), Budapest (1993) and Prague (1995). He was resident partner at the firm’s Budapest office between 1995 and 1997. After returning to the firm’s London office, he maintained an active involvement in the region until leaving Clifford Chance in 2001. He joined international law firm Simmons & Simmons in January 2003 as a partner in the Corporate and Commercial Department of the firm’s London office, heading the firm’s Energy & Infrastructure sector from 2004 to 2009.
David’s corporate finance experience includes privatizations (including advising governments, bidders and financial advisors), M&A, international joint ventures and public and private offerings in the energy, financial services, electronics, mining and pharmaceutical sectors. His project finance experience includes transactions in roads, power, water, mining and airports in the UK and worldwide. He has particular expertise in Central and Eastern Europe, having worked on transactions in Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, the Slovak Republic and Ukraine. He is rated as a leading transactional lawyer in Central and Eastern Europe by Chambers Europe 2007 and 2008.
He is co-chairman on the International Financial Services London Central and Eastern Europe Group. He graduated from Oxford University in 1977 with an MA in Jurisprudence.
